Walker Named 2017 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar

FAIRFAX, Va. -- University of Houston Volleyball rising junior Chenelle Walker was named to the 2017 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Fourth Team, Diverse Magazine announced.
The award is inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.'s commitment to education and excellence on the tennis court. Students have to compete in an intercollegiate sport, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or more and be at least a sophomore academically as well as being active on their campuses and/or in their communities.
Walker, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., holds a 3.15 GPA as a communication disorders and psychology double major.
In 2016, Walker led the Cougars with 71 total blocks (61 block assists, 10 solo) and 0.64 blocks per set across 31 matches and 111 sets played. She finished with 175 kills.
At the 7th Annual Cougar Choice Awards, Walker was honored with the Spirit Award.
