AAC Champions Pick Up Ten All-Conference Laurels

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference Champion Houston Swimming & Diving team placed 10 student-athletes on the All-Conference list representing 10 individual and 4 relay events, the league office announced Thursday. Swimmers Zarena Brown, Cait Horner, Eleanna Koutsouveli, Peyton Kondis, Laura Laderoute, Sharo Rodriguez, Victoria Roubique and Ksenia Yuskova were joined by divers Katelyn Abernathy and Micaela Bouter on the postseason list.
The Cougars concluded the historic 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships with three individual championship to win the program's first ever conference title. The 10 Cougars received honors in 14 events improving from seven Houston athletes in nine events in 2016 and five Cougars in four events in 2015.
Freshmen Kondis (100 Breaststroke) and Laderoute (200 IM) won their first individual crowns to earn conference honors while the American Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Diver Bouter earned her second crown in the 3-meter springboard to earn conference accolades. Bouter and Laderoute also received honors in the platform dive and 100-yard backstroke, respectively.
In their first conference meet, freshman Abernathy (3-meter and Platform) Brown (500 Freestyle) and Roubique (100 and 200 Breaststroke) nabbed conference honors. Miami (Fla.) transfer Yuskova captured two accolades in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events.
In addition to Brown, Koutsouveli, Kondis, Laderoute and Yuskova, who were honored as a part of relay teams, juniors Horner and Rodriguez were included in the relay laurels.

UP NEXT
Houston divers Bouter and Abernathy along with Lauren Burrell will travel to Columbia, Mo., March 6-8 for NCAA Diving Zone. Bouter and Burrell will compete in the 1- and 3-meter springboard while freshman Abernathy will compete in 3-meter.
