CABO, SAN LUCAS, Mexico & SPRING, Texas â€"It will be a busy week for the University of Houston Men's Golf program as the Cougars compete in two tournament, starting Sunday morning.
The Cougars will play as a team at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, beginning at 10 a.m. (CST) at Querencia Golf Club. That tournament runs through Tuesday with 18 holes each day on the 6,928-yard, par-71 course.
In addition, nine Cougars will compete as individuals at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist at Cypresswood Golf Club, starting with 36 holes Monday morning. That 54-hole event runs through Tuesday on the 7,169-yard, par-72 layout.
LAST TIME OUT
Posting a score of 12-under-852, the Cougars finished third at their own All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola at the Golf Club of Houston.
Junior Michael Perras posted a score of 4-under 212 to post a season-best seventh-place finish and lead five Cougars among the top-25 individual leaders. Senior Matt Scobie and junior Papito Gonzalez tie for 19th at 1-under 215,while sophomore Matt Williams and redshirt freshman George Gardner tied for 25th at 216.

The Cougars will face one of the nation's elite fields when they tee off Sunday morning. The tournament features six of the nations' top 20 programs and 11 of the top 50.
The field includes No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Georgia, No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 11 Baylor, No. 18 Wake Forest, No. 19 Texas, No. 21 Duke, No. 26 Arkansas, No. 29 Mississippi, No. 30 Florida State, No. 46 Washington, California, Rice and USF.

Papito Gonzalez â€" Leads Cougars with 71.13 average and 11 rounds of par or better in 2016-17… Tied for eighth at Bayou City Collegiate Classic at 1-under 215… Opened that tournament with consecutive sub-par rounds… Opened Maui Jim Intercollegiate with career-low 67 and followed with 70… Led Cougars and tied for 13th at 5-under 208 on Sept. 23-25… Native of McAllen, Texas, and product of Memorial High School.
Matt Scobie â€" Three-year letterman… Has posted a 72.83 average with three rounds of par or better this season… Tied for 19th at the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola with score of 1-under 215. … Native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada and product of Ajax High School.
Matt Williams â€" Posted a 72.00 average with three rounds of par or better… Tied for 25th at the All-American Intercollegiate with a score of even-par 216 (Feb. 17-19, 2017)… Posted a career-low-tying 68 in the Second Round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate (Sept. 24, 2016).
George Gardner â€"Has posted a 72.11 average with four rounds of par or better… Tied for eighth in his collegiate debut at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) with a score of 1-under-215… Began his collegiate career with a 4-under 68 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas… Native of Southlake, Texas and product of Carroll High School.
Emmett Oh â€" Competing as an individual… Three-year letterman… Has posted a 72.67 average with three rounds of par or better this season… Tied for 30th at Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas… Native of Calgary Alberta, Canada and product of Central Memorial School.

Sunday's First Round tees off at 10 a.m. (CST) with a shotgun start. The Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Arkansas, Texas and California.
Perras will go off No. 5 with Gonzalez (No. 6), Scobie (No. 7), Williams (No. 8) and Gardner (No. 9) following. Oh will compete in a group with student-athletes from Wake Forest, USF and Rice and begin off No. 15.
