Houston to Compete in Mexico this Weekend

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico â€" The University of Houston Women's Golf program wraps up its fall season this weekend with the first international trip in school history.
The 22nd-ranked Cougars compete at the Battle at the Beach, hosted by Baylor at on the 6,360-yard, par-72 course at Club Campestre San Jose. Teams will play 18 holes each day, beginning Friday morning and running through Sunday.
Friday's and Saturday's rounds tee off with 8:30 a.m., shotgun starts each day, while Sunday's Final Round begins with an 8 a.m., shotgun start.
This will be the first time Houston Women's Golf has competed outside the United States after the program was created in time for the 2013-14 season.

THE LINEUP
Under the leadership of fourth-year Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, the Cougars will be represented by junior Leonie Harm, senior Megan Thothong, junior Allie Andersen, senior Courtney Tibiletti and sophomore Amanda Elich.
Harm leads the Cougars with a 72.08 scoring average and six rounds of par or better, while Thothong stands second with a 72.83 average and five rounds of par or lower.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars, who check in at No. 22 in the latest Golfstat national rankings, will compete against a field, which features 10 of the nation's top-40 programs.
Houston faces No. 1 UCLA, No. 13 Texas, No. 20 Wake Forest, No. 21 Virginia, No. 24 North Carolina, No. 25 Vanderbilt, No. 31 Oklahoma, No. 36 Ohio State, No. 38 Auburn, Mississippi State, North Texas, TCU, Tulane and host Baylor.
LAST TIME OUT
Earlier this week, the Cougars enjoyed a season-best, second-place team finish at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
Harm, Thothong, Andersen and Tibiletti each finished among the tournament's top-25 leaders with Harm earning her second top-five finish this month.
UP NEXT
Following the Battle at the Beach, the Cougars open their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 18-20, 2018, at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
From there, the team will play host to their own The Dickson on Feb. 26-27 at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
