Witherspoon, who has three years of college eligibility remaining, joins the #HTownTakeover after one season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M where he earned second team all-conference honors after setting NEO single-season records for longest field goal (58), most field goals in a season (17) and most points by a kicker (92).
A native of Moore, Okla., Witherspoon earned All-State honors from The Oklahoman and The Tulsa World as a senior after connecting on 13- of-16 field goals his senior year at Moore High School. Six of his 13 field goals were at least 40 yards including a career-long 49-yard field goal as he added 27 touchbacks on 36 kickoffs as a senior. Witherspoon also played soccer for the Lions.
With the addition of Witherspoon, the 2017 signing class now totals four signees as three members from the 2016 roster counted forward to the class â€" punter Dane Roy, tight end Chris Johnson and since departed wide receiver Tren'davian Dickson. NCAA rules limit each football signing class to a maximum of 25 student-athletes.
