PREVIEW: Volleyball Set for Houston Cougar Classic

HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball team will open the home portion of their 2016 schedule, hosting the Houston Cougar Classic across Friday and Saturday inside Athletics/Alumni Center.
The Cougars (2-1) will host Idaho State, Lamar and Texas Southern in the two-day format. Houston will face TSU at 1 p.m. and ISU at 7 p.m. on Friday, before squaring off with Lamar in the tournament finale at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

QUICK HITS
• The Cougars are 2-2 all-time in home openers under head coach Kaddie Platt. Platt, who has won her last two home openers with Houston in straight sets, is 16-5 all-time in home-opening matches across her career.
• Juniors Shelby Harper and Brianna Lynch were each named to the Marriott Houston Westchase Invitational All-Tournament Team in Houston's season-opening tournament. Harper finished with 23 kills, averaging 2.09 per set, while Lynch recorded a team-high 36 kills, averaging 3.27 per set, across matches against Louisiana-Lafayette (W, 3-1), Weber State (L, 1-3) and host Houston Baptist (W, 3-0).
• Freshman libero Katie Karbo leads the American Athletic Conference and ranks 21st in the country averaging 5.45 digs per set.
• Tickets for the tournament are $5 general admission. Houston students will receive free admission with their valid Cougar Card.
