Will Noble Named to Rimington Watch List

HOUSTON â€" Houston sophomore center Will Noble was named to the 2016 Rimington Trophy Spring watch list, presented annually to the nation's top center, the Boomer Esiason Foundation announced Tuesday.
Noble is coming off a rookie campaign that saw the Leander, Texas, native earn Freshman All-America honors from the FWAA, Scout.com, USA Today and ESPN.com. The true freshman removed his redshirt in Houston's sixth game of the season at Tulane and never let go of starting center duties.

Commanding the center of a line that has saw 10 different starting combinations in 14 games last season, Noble helped lead a unit that ranked 10th nationally in scoring offense at 40.4 points per game, 13th nationally in rushing offense at 235.8 yards per game and 20th nationally in total offense at 484.1 yards per game.
Noble was part of a program that ranked 13th in rushing offense with an average of 235.8 yards per game while ranking eighth nationally in rushing defense, allowing just 108.9 yards per game,. Houston was the only team in the nation to rank in the top 13 in both categories.
Ranking 10th in scoring offense (40.4 points per game) and 20th in scoring defense (20.7 points per game), Houston was the only program in the nation to rank in the top 10 in scoring offense and the top 25 in scoring defense.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.6 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $120 million for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
