ABOUT THE COUGARS
Checking in at No. 31 in the latest Golfstat national rankings, the Cougars have captured three team championships in 2015-16, including back-to-back tournaments to open the spring.
Sophomore Megan Thothong leads the Cougars with a 74.30 scoring average and is tied with sophomore Yuka Kajiki for the team lead with nine rounds of par or better.
In their most recent tournament, the Cougars overcame a tough First Round to win the first American Athletic Conference title in program history. Battling a tough course and heavy winds, the Cougars finished the First Round with a score of 319 and stood in seventh place.
However, the team rallied impressively to lower their score by 34 strokes in the Second Round and never trailed the rest of the way. For the second straight season, Kajiki earned a top-5 finish at the American Athletic Conference Championships with Thothong and freshman Leonie Harm finishing among the top-10 leaders.
