Houston Football Spring Practice #2
3/11/2016 12:00:00 AM | Football
Following the postponement of Wednesday's practice due to inclement weather, the #HTownTakeover returned to spring practice Thursday, moving to John O'Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium for the final on-field workout before Spring Break.
The two-hour session consisted of helmets only as the Cougars will don full pads after returning from Spring Break.
"Obviously we are just running around in shorts and helmets with no pads, so you're not going to know anything about our toughness, both mentally and physically, but what you do find out in this kind of setting is for our veterans - did they have retention of not only our plays, but our culture," said Houston head coach Tom Herman. "I think there has been a good amount of that. We haven't nearly coached as much running through the line, finishing a drill or ball security on offense, there hasn't been as much of that as there was last year so we were pleased with that. We'll find out a lot more after Spring Break when we put the pads on and start playing real football."
Spring Practice Notes:
Following Spring Break, the Cougars return to the field on March 22 as part of 15 spring practices that conclude with the 2016 Red & White Game at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at TDECU Stadium. Fans can purchase general admission tickets ahead of time for just $5 at UHCougars.com/spring with tickets priced at $10 the day of the event.
