Bouter Earns American Diver of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston junior Micaela Bouter was named American Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, for her performances at Texas A&M dual meet.
"Micaela did a great job against some outstanding SEC competition," diving coach Bob Gunter said. "It was just what she needed to finish out the fall and set herself up for moving forward into the spring."
This is both Bouter's and the swimming and diving program's second weekly honor of the season.
The Johannesburg, South Africa, native earned conference laurels after her dominating performance on the boards, winning both diving events in College Station, Texas this weekend. Through four diving meets, the Johannesburg, native remains unbeaten in the 1-meter springboard event after netting a score of 291.90 to soundly beat the field. Bouter followed up with another first place finish in the 3-meter event with a score of 315.08.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will head to Florida for winter camp training before opening the 2017 portion of their schedule in dual meet action against Incarnate Word on Jan. 10 in San Antonio, Texas.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the second consecutive year as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC from Feb. 15-18, 2017. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 15-18, 2017 in Indianapolis, Ind.
