Swimming & Diving Honored For Classroom Excellence

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team received recognition for their hard work in the classroom on Wednesday, as they were named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
As a team, the Cougars earned a semester GPA of 3.22 and were among 547 teams nation-wide honored.
The Fall Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the semester coinciding with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
ABOUT CSCAA
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) - the oldest organization of college coaches in America - is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level.
The CSCAA recognizes outstanding achievements by coaches and swimmers; promotes communication and cooperation both within the sport of swimming and with our fellow Olympic sports; protects, promotes and seeks to expand competitive intercollegiate swimming programs; recommends rules and regulations to the NCAA; sponsors events; certifies new coaches; provides ongoing educational and leadership training for coaches and athletes; and serves as a source of information to its membership and for the general public.
UP NEXT
The Cougars play host to LSU, Rice and Tulane for their final meet of the regular season, Jan. 29 & 30 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. The Cougars will honor seniors, swimmers Doroteja Bednjanec, Holly Criscuolo, Taylor Derevyanik, Maya Owens and diver Danielle Shedd on Saturday Jan. 30.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the first time as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC on Feb. 17-20. All-session tickets can be purchased up until the start of competition (Feb. 17) for $33 each. All-session tickets for college students, senior citizens and those 18 or younger are $18 each. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships to be held March 17-19 in Atlanta.
