PROVIDENCE, R.I.â€" The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team swept conference honors, as sophomore Micaela Bouter and freshman Delia Weber were named American Athletic Conference Female Diver and Swimmer of the Week, respectively, after impressive performances at the Arkansas Quad Meet.
This is the second time this season Houston has swept conference weekly honors. Bouter has won this honor four times this season. This is the first honor for Weber and the second for a Houston swimmer in 2015-16.
Bouter is coming off two great finishes against tough SEC opponents, where she finished among the top three in the 1-meter and won the overall title in the 3-meter. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native captured her third 3-meter crown this season with a total score of 307.30 to win by more than eight points. Bouter also took third in the 1-meter the following day with a score of 291.15.
"Micaela continues to build on an outstanding season with another 3 meter win and a solid 1-meter performance last weekend," said diving coach Bob Gunter. "Everything is really starting to come together for her right now and we are really looking for a strong finish."
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Weber placed second overall against No. 24 Arkansas with a time of 10:18.85. The freshman and Houston native currently holds the top finish in The American clocking in at 10:11.19 in the 1,000 freestyle.
"I'm excited for Delia's progression already this year," said head swimming and diving coach Ryan Wochomurka. "I'm also looking forward to watching her the next 3 weeks as we move into championship season."
