Soccer to Host Red and White Intrasquad Match

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Soccer program and fourth year head coach Chris Pfau are excited to announce the 2015 Houston Soccer Red and White game, to be held Sunday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at Carl Lewis Field.
The 2015 Cougars will split into two teams for the intrasquad match and will play one 45-minute half against each other. Following the first half, the teams will re-divide and all fans ages eighth grade and under will be allowed on the field to play with the Cougars. The Houston Soccer program will also be available for autographs following the match.
The intrasquad match will serve as a great way for fans of all ages to see former local high school and club stars from the Houston area who have earned a chance to play for their hometown college.
Fans are also encouraged to print off the camp flier ( FOUND HERE), tear the information slip off the bottom and return the slip for a discount at Houston Cougar Soccer Camp next summer.
COUGARS BRING EXPERIENCE ROSTER TO 2015
Houston returns 16 student-athletes from last season's roster, including 10 who started a majority of last season's matches.
Senior goalkeeper Jordan Brown returns for Houston between the pipes. Brown started 16 games last year before suffering a season-ending injury in the team's final regular season match. Brown tallied 83 saves out of 111 chances and carried a 1.64 goals against average throughout the year. The League City, Texas native set a single-season school record for ties by a goalkeeper (5) with a 0-0 draw against eventual American Athletic Conference Champion UConn.
Forward Lexa Green also returns for her senior season, and was the Cougars' leading goal and point scorer in 2014. Green tallied four goals on 11 shots on goal (.440) while also adding an assist to lead Houston with nine points.
The Cougars return an impressive group of talented and experienced defenders to the back line that includes a number of student-athletes who saw starting time. 2015 CollegeSportsMadness.Com Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree Sydnie Green leads the defense after logging 1,323 minutes a year ago. Houston's remaining returning defenders logged nearly 6,000 minutes of action in 2014.
2015 HOSUTON SOCCER SEASON
The Cougars open their 2015 soccer season at home against Texas State on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Houston will host nine matches during the upcoming season including contests against two 2014 NCAA Tournament teams in USF and UCF.
