HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar men's and women's track and field teams continue the 2015 outdoor season as they head to cross-town rival Rice to compete at the 33rd Annual Victor Lopez Bayou Classic on Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3 in Houston, Texas.
Action in the Victor Lopez Classic is scheduled to begin on Friday at 10 a.m., with the men's hammer throw. Section "B" of the men's and women's 1500m runs kick off the running events at 7:30 p.m., and will be followed by the 3000m Steeplechase, the 5000m run and the 10K.
The remainder of the field events will be held throughout the day on Saturday, beginning with the men's shot put, women's discus and men's and women's long jump all held at 11 a.m. The running events will be broken down into an afternoon session (noon-4:20 p.m.) beginning with the men's 110m hurdles and evening session (6 p.m.-8:40 p.m.) which features the 4x100m and 4x400m relays and the finals of the remaining track events.
The Cougars are coming off an impressive week at the 88th Annual Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas where junior hurdler Issac Williams logged the 23rd best time in the nation in the 110m hurdles. Williams was named The American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for his performance, marking the third time this season and fourth of his career to be honored by the conference.
