Cougars scatter for a weekend of running at Franklin Field, Clyde Hart Stadium and Wendel D. Ley Track beginning Thursday
HOUSTON, PHILADELPHIA and WACO, Texas – The University of Houston Track & Field program will split across three meets this weekend, competing at the Penn Relays, Michael Johnson Invitational, and J. Fred Duckett Twilight beginning Thursday.Â

The Cougars begin action at Penn Relays on Thursday and continue through Friday and Saturday. Houston will also compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Friday and Saturday, before concluding the weekend at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday.Â

Last weekend, the Cougars won nine total events at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational and at the Wake Forest Invitational.

Last weekend, the Cougars won nine total events at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational and at the Wake Forest Invitational.
- Junior Patrick Flowers produced a strong race, winning the men's 3000-meter steeplechase at the Wake Forest Invitational at Kentner Stadium on Thursday evening.
- At the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational on Friday, redshirt senior Ty Lott had a standout performance, earning the first victory of the day in the men's hammer throw. Lott posted a personal best mark of 64.17m on his final attempt to move up to third on Houston's all-time performance list.
- Houston had a strong showing in the women's pole vault. Sophomore Evina Panagiotou earned the victory with a season-best mark of 4.23m. Graduate Arianna Peroni, senior Aubrey Tupper, junior Nicole Prall and sophomore Kayla Byrd recorded a four-way tie for second place with their marks of 3.88m. Peroni and Byrd earned personal bests and are tied for eighth on Houston's all-time performance list.
- Graduate Canaan Wharry recorded the victory in the men's discus with a mark of 55.02m.
- The women's 4x100-meter relay team of junior Ruth Agadama, sophomore Taylor Jackson, senior Matilde Ochoa and freshman Alexa Smothers ran a season-best time of 44.66 to win the race.
- Junior Cordell Nwokeji earned his third victory of the season in the men's shot put with a mark of 18.96m.
- Junior Antrea Mita won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.16m while freshman Kenneth Owen placed third at 2.01m.
- Senior Kaycee McCoy won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.28.
- Junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile earned the victory in the men's 100-meter with a time of 10.43.
- Houston swept the women's 100-meter as Agadama crossed the finish line first with a time of 11.55, followed by Ochoa in second at 11.62 and Jackson secured third in 11.65.
- Senior Reese Pokluda secured second place in the men's pole vault with a season best mark of 5.05m.
- Senior Zaeda Houff placed second in the women's hammer throw with a personal mark of 58.21m.
- Sophomore King Taylor placed second in the men's 400-meter with a time of 48.14 while sophomore Kali Magana placed third with a time of 55.38 in the women's 400-meter.
- Sophomore Shawn Freeman finished second in the men's 800-meter with a time of 1:51.13.
- Sophomore Noah Hanson placed third in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.97.
- In the men's 400-meter hurdles, freshman William King IV ran a time of 52.46 for third place.
- The Cougars finished second and third in the women's shot put. Sophomore Cleo Agyepong finished second with a personal best mark of 16.56m. Sophomore Sydney Freeman placed third with a personal best mark of 15.46m and is now eighth on Houston's all-time performance list.
- In the women's triple jump, freshman Saphina Stanley took home second with a mark of 12.10m. Sophomore Stephanie Ume-Ezeoke placed third with a mark of 11.47m.
