SAN DIEGO - For the first time in school history, the University of Houston Women's Golf program will compete in match play when it tees off at the SDSU Farms Invitational on Monday morning at The Farms Golf Club.
Hosted by San Diego State, the three-day event begins at 9:45 a.m. (CDT) each day with a split-tee start and continues through Wednesday afternoon. First-Round seeding was determined by the Golfstat national rankings as of Wednesday.
Ranked No. 33 nationally, the Cougars drew the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 seed and 40th ranked Colorado in Monday's First Round.
Teams will compete in two Championship/Consolation rounds on Tuesday based on Monday's results with the final round to be played Wednesday.

The rest of the field includes No. 1 seed and 13th-ranked Oklahoma State, No. 2 seed and 15th-ranked Tennessee, No. 3 seed and 18th-ranked UNLV, No. 4 seed and 19th ranked Pepperdine, No. 5 seed and 22nd-ranked Arizona State, No. 6 seed and 36th ranked host San Diego State, No. 7 seed and 36th ranked California, No. 10 seed Kansas, No. 11 seed Long Beach State, No. 12 seed, Boise State, No. 13 seed Michigan, No. 14 seed Nevada, No. 15 seed New Mexico and No. 16 seed UC Irvine.
This marks the second straight season that the Cougars will compete in this event, although it will be the first time they will play in a match-play format. A year ago, Courtney Ferguson finished in a tie for 47th to lead the Cougars.
The Cougars enter this week's tournament after finishing ninth at the Wildcat Invitational. Junior Raegan Bremer led the way for Houston with a 26th-place finish.
HOUSTON'S LINEUP
Head coach Gerrod Chadwell and assistant coach Lucy Nunn recently announced that Bremer, freshman Megan Thothong, sophomore Emily Gilbreth, freshman Yuka Kajiki and Ferguson will represent the Cougars in San Diego.
Bremer has been one of the Cougars steadiest performers in two seasons at Houston. The Anaheim, Calif., native leads the Cougars with eight rounds of par or better and a 73.83 scoring average and has led Houston in five of eight tournaments to date this season.
Thothong has been equally impressive this season in her first collegiate campaign. The Dallas native ranks second on the team with a 74.13 average and six rounds of par or better and fired a Final Round 71 at last week's Wildcat Invitational for the Cougars' low round of the tournament.
With her Final-Round and school-record 67 on March 10, she earned medalist honors at the UNF Collegiate and became the second Cougar to enjoy a tournament title, joining Bremer in that exclusive group.
Gilbreth has competed in all seven team-scoring events this season and enjoyed a career-best second-place finish at the UNF Collegiate while leading the Cougars to their first team title in school history.
Ferguson is the lone senior on the 2014-15 team. The Clear Lake, Texas, native opened her season with back-to-back top-20 finishes at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational and Alamo Invitational.
Like Thothong, Kajiki is competing in her first season and enjoyed success. The Hiroshima, Japan, native has posted a pair of top-10 finishes this season, including a third-place showing at the Mary Fossum Invitational in her only second collegiate event.
