Houston Picked Third in The American's Preseason Poll
Cougars garner six first-place votes in conference's preseason media poll.
HOUSTON- Just three days prior to players reporting for the 2014 season, the Houston Football program was picked third in The American Athletic Conference's preseason media poll. Houston received six of a possible 30 first-place votes and had 268 points in the preseason voting of media representatives.
Cincinnati, which received 17 first-place votes, sits atop the poll with 311 points, while 2013 champion and 2014 Fiesta Bowl champion UCF is second with seven first-place votes and 296 points. Houston faces both teams ahead in the poll this season, hosting UCF at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, and traveling to Cincinnati on Dec. 6 in the regular-season finale.
Houston returns 28 players with starting experience including seven student-athletes who have accounted for 11 national award preseason watch list mentions. The 2013 Cougars advanced to the program's 22nd bowl appearance with an 8-5 season while facing the toughest schedule in program history in terms of its opponents' 94 wins.
Houston opens the season at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, vs. UTSA in the first FBS game in the state of Texas. Fans can currently purchase season tickets for the seven-game home season for as low as $140 at UHCougars.com/FBtickets.

Houston student-athletes Bryce Redman, Joey Mbu, Daniel Spencer and Derrick Mathews arrived in Newport, R.I. late Monday afternoon.
6:00 pm CT: Student-athletes joined head coach Tony Levine at the annual clam bake.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Monday evening, the American Athletic Conference will welcome all schools and Media Day particiapnts for an authentic Rhode Island clam bake served on the shores of Newport Harbor.
Media Day takes place on Tuesday and beings with the taking of a group photo of the league's coaches and then the student-athletes in attendance. From there, the coaches and student-athletes will meet and be interviewed by print, electronic and digital media for the rest of the day.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
Coaches and players from the 11 American Athletic Conference schools will converge at the Hyatt Regency in Newport, R.I., July 29 for the league's Summer Kickoff and Media Day, and fans will be able to follow all of the day's events through a broad range of digital coverage.

2014 FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS
Houston fans can guarantee a place in history by purchasing season tickets for the first season in the new TDECU Stadium. Season tickets are currently on sale starting at just $140 as are Memorial Hermann Family Plan four-pack season tickets, two adult and two youth, for just $299. YOUNG ALUMNI TICKET INFORMATION
University of Houston alumni from the last five years (2010-14) can purchase season tickets for just $125 (upper levels) and $175 (lower level) in specially designated Young Alumni sections with a multiplier of four times donations to Cougar Pride giving levels for the first five years after graduation. Each ticket consists of a $25 Cougar Pride donation with the four times Young Alumni multiplier, resulting in a $100 donation credit and a Cougar Pride parking pass in the TDECU Stadium Garage. GROUP TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game group ticket sales for the inaugural season in TDECU Stadium are now on sale via the Houston Athletics Ticket Office. Groups of at least 10 or more can purchase tickets starting at just $21 per person to any of Houston's seven home games, including 2014 Fiesta Bowl champion UCF, by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647) or by clicking here.
