Ray, Kay Named to Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team

HOUSTON- University of Houston baseball garnered two Houston College Classic All-Tournament team selections as senior Jared Ray and freshman Cory Kay represented the Cougars on this year's list, following an impressive 2-1 record for Houston this weekend.
The three-day Houston College Classic baseball tournament (March 2-4) concluded Sunday night at Minute Maid Park with Houston, Rice and Arkansas each finishing with 2-1 records. Tennessee, Texas and Texas Tech rounded out the field with 1-2 marks.
Ray led Houston to a 7-4 victory over Tennessee in the Cougars' tournament opener. The righty tossed 7.0 complete innings and fanned a career-high 10 strikeouts. He held the Vols' offense to one run on five scattered hits and didn't record one walk.
Kay was an impact player in the Cougars' victory over No. 4 Arkansas on Saturday when the DH drove in two runs on two hits and belted his first career homerun, which also was his first college hit in the Crawford Boxes at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros also announced the field for the 2013 Houston College Classic, which includes Houston and Rice, as well as Texas A&M, Baylor, North Carolina and California. The 2013 HCC will mark the event's 13th year and will feature nine games at Minute Maid Park from March 1-3, 2013.
