Former Cougar Earns Professional Baseball Front Office Promotion

Houston, Texas - Former University of Houston Baseball letterwinner Chris Almendarez has been promoted to president of corporate sales and assistant general manager of the Round Rock Express the organization announced.
Almendarez joined the Express staff in 2009 as a senior account executive before moving to the director of baseball outreach position for the 2011 season. Coordinator of Express Baseball Camps, Almendarez oversees the organization's business development and baseball operations, and he assists General Manager George King in the club's day-to-day operations.
He worked in pharmaceutical sales and entrepreneurial business prior to joining the Express. Almendarez earned his degree in mass communications from Houston, where he also lettered in baseball.
While at UH Almendarez played with current Cougar Head Coach Todd Whitting. He hit .278 in 22 games during the 1995 season.
