HOUSTON - For fans looking ahead to Friday night's Conference USA opener, the University of Houston Athletics Ticket Office will be open during regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) on Labor Day.
The Cougars play host to league-rival UTEP at 9:15 p.m., Friday on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Fans who have not yet purchased their tickets are encouraged to do so soon due to record sales.
Houston opened its 2010 campaign in impressive fashion Saturday night with a dominating 68-28 win against Texas State on Saturday night at Robertson Stadium. A record-crowd 32,119 fans watched the Cougars score at least 55 points in a season opener for the third straight season, all under head coach Kevin Sumlin.
In addition, the Cougars won their 16th consecutive home game, breaking the previous school record set from 1988 to 1991. That ties as the fourth-longest active streak among all NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision teams.
Fans still have several options from which to choose for the Cougars' five remaining regular-season home games. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647), by visiting the Athletics Tickets Office on the first floor of the Athletics/Alumni Center or by clicking the Tickets link at UHCougars.com.
