Soccer Draws TCU 2-2 in Double Overtime Match

HOUSTON - In a double overtime match, the Cougars walked away with a 2-2 tie against TCU Friday night. Freshman Sami Sackos provided both assists for the Cougars.
Freshman Sami Sackos provided both the assists for the Cougars who had to come back from deficits twice in the game to earn the draw.
"It was a real back and forth battle," said head coach Susan Bush. "We have to do some things better like defending set pieces but I'm proud of the way our girls rallied in the game and hung in there for 120 minutes. There were a lot of positives to draw from this like playing in front of a big crowd on the road. We handled that very well which shows you the maturity level of our team is high."
TCU took the early lead on a free kick in the 15th minute on a free kick. It ended the Cougars streak of holding the opposition scoreless at 285 minutes.
Houston didn't let the Horned Frogs hold the lead for long as sophomore Courtney Peacock registered her first goal as a Houston Cougar in the 27th minute.
The game would remain knotted up until the 63rd minute until TCU was able to go back ahead.
The lead didn't hold for long as freshman Nicole Duarte scored her second goal of the season on a header. Sackos again provided the assist off a cross from the outside in the 74th minute.
Cami Koski earned the start between the posts for Houston and played the duration of the match. Both goalkeepers were busy on the night, registering five saves each while Houston outshoot TCU 21-15.
The two teams would play scoreless soccer for the remainder of the game in front of the ninth-largest crowd in TCU history.
