Pozdniakova Wins Bronze at 30th European Championships

HOUSTON - Former University of Houston diver Anastasia Pozdniakova finished third in the 1-meter diving competition at the 30th European Championships.
The Russia native finished third with 282.65 points, trailing former Cougar diver and event winner Tania Cagnotto and second-place finisher Anna Lindberg.
Pozdniakova will continue competition at the Championships on Aug. 14 in the 3-meter competition and will then close out the weekend with the 3-meter synchronized competition on Aug. 15.
Sophomore diver Julia Lonnegren is also participating in the meet. She dove in the 10-meter platform event, finishing with 216.25 points to finish 18th.
Sophomore Reka Kovacs was the lone Cougar swimmer represented at the meet in Budapest, Hungary. She opened competition in the 400-yard IM and finished 18th with a time of 5:01.26.
Competing for Hungary, Kovacs closed out her run at the meet with a 28th place finish in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.35) and the 200-yard IM (2:20.45).
