Pozdniakova Takes 3-meter Title at Zone Championships

College Station, Texas - University of Houston senior diver Anastasia Pozdniakova won the 3-meter diving event Saturday evening at the NCAA Zone D Championships at the Student Recreation Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University.
Pozdniakova won back-to-back titles in the 3-meter event, after taking the event title in 2009. She scored 751.90 points and earned a trip to the NCAA Championships. The Elektrostal, Russia, native also won the 1-meter event on Friday.
Junior Lacey Truelove qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing fourth in the 3-meter event, scoring 640.55 points.
Freshman Julia Lonnegren was 21st (256.30 points) and Jessalyn Almond was 32nd (231.70 points) to round out competition for the Cougars.
The Cougars will close out competition at the Zone D Championships on Sunday with the platform event. The preliminary round is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and the finals will begin at 1 p.m. Fans can follow the live results by logging on to www.divemeets.com.
