Pozdniakova Wins 1-Meter at Zone D Championships

College Station, Texas -- University of Houston senior diver Anastasia Pozdniakova won the 1-meter competition at the NCAA Zone D Championships at the Student Recreation Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University on Friday.
Pozdniakova led the competition scoring 683.55 points en route to setting the school record in the event. It also gives her back-to-back wins in the 1-meter competition and the third win of her career at the Zone D Championships. The finish qualifies her for the NCAA Championships at Purdue University on March 18-20.
Julia Lonnegren gave Houston a second top 15 finish, coming in 11th with 518.55 points. In addition, Jessalyn Almond finished 29th scoring 225.10 points and Lacey Truelove was 37th with 206.40 points.
The Cougars will continue on Saturday with the 3-meter competition. Preliminaries start at 3 p.m. with a 5 p.m. start to the finals. Competition on Sunday will conclude with the platform event. The prelims will start at 11 a.m. and the final will start at 1 p.m.
