HOUSTON -- The University of Houston swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Wednesday for a dual against No. 3 Texas, in the Second Annual Sprint For The Cure Meet at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium. The competition is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
This dual meet is meant to benefit cancer awareness and donations will be accepted during the dual that will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
In conjunction with the Sprint for the Cure, the team will honor its two seniors, Anastasia Pozdniakova and Jessica Shamburger, prior to the start of the meet.
Last season, Houston faced off against Texas in the first Sprint for the Cure meet. The Longhorns won with a score of 87-51 but the highlight of the night was the $1,200 in donations that were raised for cancer research.
The dual is the final regular season swim meet for the Cougars before the Conference Championships, held at the CRWC Natatorium on Feb. 24-27.
