Pozdniakova Named C-USA Diver of the Week

Irving, Texas - University of Houston senior diver Anastasia Pozdniakova was named the Conference USA Diver of the Week by the league office on Tuesday. With the award, the Elektrostal, Russia, native now has three Diver of the Week awards this season and 17 in her career.
Pozdniakova continued her winning streak in the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions this season, taking the top spot this weekend against North Texas and SMU for the sixth consecutive time. The senior set a season-best with 397.65 points in the 3-meter event against North Texas. The following day she set the SMU pool record with a 352.88 score in the 1-meter competition.
Taking home the Swimmer of the Week award was Sascha Van den Branden of SMU.
Pozdniakova and the Cougars will return to the pool this weekend when they host Tulane, Rice and LSU at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium on Jan. 29-30.
