Football Tickets Moving Fast
8/20/2009 12:00:00 AM | Football
HOUSTON - Good things are happening around the University of Houston Athletics Department this summer, and Cougar Football fans shouldn't wait too long to purchase their tickets for the 2009 campaign.
To date, the Cougars have sold nearly 6,000 season tickets, the highest total this decade. Even more impressively, the Cougars eclipsed their season-ticket total from the entire 2008 season by late July, according to administrators with the UH Athletics Ticket Office.
"We're very excited about the response that we have had from Cougar fans, and we need Cougar fans to continue to buy season tickets. When you look at top-25 programs across the country, one of the things they all have in common is a high season-ticket number. For us to aspire to be a top-25 program, we need to continue to build our total," director of athletics Mack Rhoades said. "Tickets are the life-blood of your program. During the last several years, our number has increased. We need to continue to grow as we look toward the future, and we need more Cougar fans to participate and buy season tickets."
Sections of Robertson Stadium already are unavailable due to the turnout. General admission season tickets, west side Cougar Pride seating and lower north end zone seating have sold out.
SEATING STILL AVAILABLE
However, Cougar fans can still purchase good seating for the 2009 season. Excellent reserved season tickets remain available, while 3-game mini plans can be bought for as low as $99.
In addition, single-game general admission tickets remain available for all games with the exception of the Texas Tech contest on Sept. 26.
All remaining general admission tickets for the Texas Tech game are being held for current UH students. When the Cougars face the Red Raiders, more than a quarter of available seating in Robertson Stadium will be held for current UH students.
SEASON OPENER
The Cougars open the season at 4 p.m., Sept. 5, when they play host to Northwestern State on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. It will be the first of six regular-season home games for the Cougars this season.
Fans won't want to miss the official kickoff of the Pulse of the Pride campaign on Sept. 5. Fans can learn how to become the pulse by visiting PulseofthePride.com or by clicking here.
