Football Players of the Week Announced

HOUSTON - University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin named the team's Player of the Week honorees after a 41-24 win over No. 23 East Carolina.
Running back Bryce Beall had 22 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns to share Offensive Player of the Week along side teammate offensive lineman Chris Thompson who helped contribute to the offense's 621 total yards.
Houston picked up their first road victory against a ranked team since a win over No. 3 Texas in Austin during the 1984 season.
The entire starting defense picked up Defense Player of the Week, only allowing two touchdowns and 275 yards.
Junior Chase Turner booted two punts at nearly 60 yards per kick to be named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Scout Team POW's were offensive lineman Ken Van Heule (Offense), cornerback Jamal Robinson (Defense) and Jeremiah Alexander (Special Teams).
The Cougars are off this weekend before returning home for Conference USA at 7 p.m., Oct. 9, against UAB on John O'Quinn field at Robertson Stadium.
