HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team will open its 2008 season when the Cougars play host to UTSA at 7 p.m. on Friday at Robertson Stadium.
Live stats for all UH home matches this season will be available through Gametracker on UHCougars.com. Go to the UH soccer page and click on `Schedule' and select the game to follow.
With nine returning starters and seven newcomers, second-year head coach Susan Bush has a solid mix of experience and youth.
Improved depth, speed and athleticism all over the field could have Houston poised for a breakout season in Conference USA this season.
"This season our fundamental goal is to play as a unit and outwork our opponents," Bush said. "This style of play is about mentality and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get a result.
"The culture of this program is changing with the kinds of kids we are recruiting and this 2008 class is an excellent start to the beginning of a successful campaign."
Friday's contest marks only the third meeting between the two teams. The Cougars enjoyed a 1-0 double overtime win over the Roadrunners in San Antonio in 2006 before dropping a 3-1 decision at home last season.
