Cougars To Cap Spring With Cougar Fest

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Houston Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Army ROTC, US Army and the National Guard, is pleased to announce that the Cougars' annual Red-White Spring Game on Saturday, April 12, will be the cornerstone of Cougar Fest 2008.
"This is intended to be a fun-filled day of bringing together our alumni other parts of the university and those in the community," UH Director of Athletics Dave Maggard said. "It is again an effort to get people back on our campus and to enjoy not only a preview of the 2008 Cougar Football Team under new Coach Kevin Sumlin, but also a full day of events and activities featuring our Armed Forces and to meet some of the areas great Olympic Athletes."
The day begins with win an Apache Helicopter flyover and a 5K run and ends with the Cougars taking the field at Robertson Stadium to debut the Kevin Sumlin era. In between there will interactive games, including two rock-climbing walls, which get underway at 9 am, to be followed by an Olympic Athlete forum at 10 am in Tailgate Village on the west side of Robertson Stadium. Finally, in a lead up to the noon kickoff of the Red-White game, the Army Golden Knights will sky dive into Robertson Stadium to present the game ball.
During the game the Cougars will recognize former UH football standouts, as well as retired, current and future military personnel. After the game, there will be a free autograph session with the 2008 Cougar Football team and head coach Kevin Sumlin.
