HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team's season-opening match with No. 3 UCLA was canceled due to inclement weather in the Houston area.
A makeup game will be played on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium at 10 a.m. CDT Monday.
The two teams had played into the 48th minute with the Bruins holding a 4-0 lead.
The teams and fans endured over a two-hour weather delay before the game was called by the officials. Heavy storms and lightning in the area caused the delay and the eventual cancellation.
Stats will not count for the game as it was not considered complete by NCAA rules. Games must be played into the 70th minute to become official.
UCLA's match against Texas will still be played as scheduled, Sunday at 7 p.m. in Robertson Stadium.
Tickets from the canceled match will be good for admission on Monday. Fans with questions should contact the UH Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS.
For fans wishing to purchase tickets for Monday's makeup match, they can do so at Robertson Stadium Monday for a cost of $2.
