HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team continued spring practice Friday in shorts and shoulder pads after working out in full gear on Thursday. The Cougars held a light practice in preparation for a Saturday scrimmage at 10 a.m. on the John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
"We tried to keep our guys mentally fresh, physically fresh and maintain the intensity and energy and I feel like we accomplished that today. We are going to keep them rested today, they worked out at six in the morning and we worked them out this afternoon early and now they should be ready to go tomorrow morning at 10," head coach Art Briles said.
During Saturday's scrimmage the Cougars hope build on what they did last weekend and to continue to improve as a team.
"We just want to be better on both sides of the ball. It's hard to judge against ourselves but the defense is moving around well and we feel like we should be dominant up front defensively. We have to become a dominant team on the offensive side. Like we told (the team), we can't wait to get good. We have to be good now. We have to be much better this Saturday than we were last Saturday," Briles said.
Spring practice concludes on April 7 with the annual Red-White Game at 10 a.m. at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex on the UH campus. A complete list of Spring Football Dates can be found at www.uhcougars.com.
