HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team held its third workout after having a week off from Spring Break Thursday afternoon under cloudy conditions at the UH Athletics Complex. The defending Conference USA champions worked out in full pads for approximately two hour and 30 minutes.
"Our Tuesday and Thursday practices are going to be pretty intense," head coach Art Briles said. "We'll back off a little bit on Friday to prepare for our scrimmages on Saturday. The main thing I'm looking for is our team to bring energy to the field. We want to do everything twice as good as we did last season."
The Cougars finished practice with a pair of drives on offense that saw all three quarterbacks get snaps.
"We're trying to be a repetition based offense right now," Briles said. "Our goal for our players on offense and defense is to realize why we're doing what we're doing in certain situations. We're going to grind like heck for the next three weeks and finish strong on April 7."
Houston is scheduled to return to the practice field Friday at 2 pm. The program also is slated to play host to its annual Pro Day Friday morning at 9am inside the Yeoman Field House. Fans are invited to attend to watch 11 Cougars participate in-front of NFL scouts.
Spring football concludes with the annual Red-White game slated for 10 am on Saturday, April 7 at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex on the UH campus.
