HOUSTON - Fans of the University of Houston softball program will have plenty of fun in the stands at the Cougar Softball Stadium this season with an exciting schedule of promotions and game themes throughout the 2007 season.
The program welcomes various softball leagues and groups to the stadium to start the season by playing host to the nation's best with three home tournaments to start the season. The Baytown Intensity and Red Hot Softball are two teams that have already confirmed their attendance in support of Cougar Softball.
When Houston faces Texas A&M on March 7, the program will turn in its home white jerseys for special pink jerseys to promote Breast Cancer awareness. Each jersey will be put up for auction online leading up to the game at UHCougars.com in addition to during the game via a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation for cancer research.
As the Cougars head into conference play, the team will host a camper reunion day during the doubleheader against defending C-USA champion Tulsa to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on March 17. Campers get free admission by wearing their camp shirt. In the series finale on March 18 against the Golden Hurricane, Houston welcomes the Sugar Land Girls Softball Association to the ballpark.
Campus Housing Day kicks off the UAB series on March 31 as the first 50 UH students at the doubleheader will receive a free UH softball t-shirt with valid ID.
CSTV will televise its first-ever game from the Cougar Softball Stadium against UAB on April 1 as the team celebrates Scout Day. UH patches will be given away to the first 100 scouts that show up in uniform.
The Cougar Softball Stadium will certainly be a boisterous place on April 21 as the team celebrates Youth Softball Day against UCF. Any kids that wear their softball jersey will get free admission. The Houston softball program will salute female local heroes against UCF on April 22. Free admission will be granted to all members of the Houston Fire and Police Departments in addition to all armed service men and women.
Cinco de Mayo will be in full force on May 5 in a doubleheader against Marshall. The Cougars also welcome the Fury Girls Softball Association to the stadium.
On May 6 against Marshall, fans will have a chance to celebrate Senior Day with the program during the regular season home finale. The Cougars invite all UH students and the community in recognition to saying goodbye to the senior class.
