Cougars Sign Estrada for 2027

HOUSTON – Houston Softball signed 2027 freshman utility Savanna Estrada on Thursday, adding to the recruiting momentum head coach Chrissy Schoonmaker and staff have built this offseason.Â

Estrada, who heralds from San Bernardino, Calif., tore the cover off the softball during her prep career at Aquinas hitting .571 with 181 hits and 29 home runs and 149 RBI.

As a senior, she slugged 1.013 with seven home runs, 19 extra base hits and 27 RBI. As a junior, she hit .468 with 18 extra base hits and 27 RBI.Â

In 2024 for CA Firecrackers, Estrada earned PGF (Premier Girls Fastpitch) All-America honors. For her high school team that year, she hit .649 in 28 games in 2024 with 12 home runs, 50 hits, 50 RBI and 28 total extra bases for a 1.337 slugging percentage and 2.026 OPS. As a freshman, Estrada hit .539 with 51 hits, 45 RBI and 17 extra base hits.Â

Estrada led Aquinas to the quarterfinals of the 2025 CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs, the furthest the team progressed during her prep career.Â

During the playoffs of her sophomore season in 2024, Estrada launched a game-winning grand slam to lift unbeaten Aquinas to a 6-2 victory over Cajon in a CIF Southern Section Division 3 first-round playoff game.Â
