Cougars Announce 2006 Football Promotions

HOUSTON, Texas - With a robust seven-game home schedule in 2006, the University of Houston Department of Athletics has put together a bonanza of football promotions for the upcoming Cougar home slate, announced Thursday by UH Director of Athletics Dave Maggard.
"Even though our football season is several months away, our entire department is excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming fall season," said Maggard. "With a team that will tout a Heisman Trophy candidate in Kevin Kolb, there will be some great football on the field. In addition to the great entertainment of Cougar Football, we have a theme planned for every game in order to provide the best entertainment around for the entire family.
"Be a part of the fun and join us at Robertson Stadium."
Beginning with the home opener on September 9 versus Tulane and ending with the defending Conference USA champion Tulsa on November 4, each Cougar football game will have a unique theme and promotion.
The seasonal promotions are as follows:
1. September 9, Armed Forces Day (Tulane) Celebration of former, current, and future members of the Armed Forces Various forms of patriotic entertainment
2. September 16, All-UH Day (Grambling State) UH System student, faculty and staff appreciation Contests between UH student organizations Free admission for all UH System students
3. September 23, Red Rage (Oklahoma State) All Cougar fans wear red FREE "Cougar REDvolution" t-shirts for first 1,000 fans
4. October 7, Band Day (Louisiana-Lafayette) All day high school band clinics. "Festival of Bands" pageantry during halftime
5. October 21, Cultural Celebration Game (UTEP) International tailgate and cooking contest Musical performances from around the globe
6. October 28, Family Weekend (UCF) Discounted tickets for family members of UH students "Kid Zone" with inflatable games and entertainment Youth Football Day - teams coming to the game together get discounted rates and on-field recognition
7. November 4, Homecoming (Tulsa) Reunion of all former University of Houston students
Houston begins the 2006 season on the road, facing arch-rival Rice on September 2, at Rice Stadium.
