HOUSTON, Texas - After a much-needed day off on Sunday, the University of Houston Cougars returned to the practice fields today, taking part in an outdoor workout this morning and then coming inside for the afternoon practice when rains pelted the Houston area.
Despite having to move practice indoors for the morning session, UH head coach Art Briles still thinks the team is progressing as planned.
"(The move inside) hasn't dampered our attitude at all," commented Briles. "It was pretty warm this morning (and) the humidity was up really high, but we still got a good workout in.
"This afternoon they bounced around really well and are really getting after it. We were pretty jacked about it."
With just over two weeks before the season opener against Oregon on September 1, Briles feels the preparation for the Reliant Stadium clash is definitely on track.
"We've been focusing on Oregon because it is our first game here at home on national TV," added Briles. "It is a chance to showcase our football team, so when we play there won't be anything left in our pockets. We're laying everything on the table."
Houston will have just one workout tomorrow, a 2:30 pm workout outside, weather permitting. The Cougars will have another day of two-a-days on Wednesday.
