Swimming & Diving in Fifth Place at C-USA Meet

HOUSTON - The University of Houston 200-yard freestyle relay team posted the fifth-fastest time in school history during the first day of the 2005 Conference USA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship and Men's Invitational on Wednesday at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.
The Cougar team of Meagan Wien, Stacey Williams, Jenny Hagen and Kristin Bay posted a time of 1:35.98 on the way to a fifth-place finish to start meet off on a positive note.
After the first day, the Cougars stood in a tie with Cincinnati for fifth place with 54 points. TCU stood atop the women's leaderboard with 80 points, while Louisville was second with 66 points. Tulane and East Carolina were tied for fourth with 62 points.
On the men's side, East Carolina tallied 117 points to grab a five-point advantage over Louisville. TCU was third with 89 points with Cincinnati (79) and Saint Louis (71) rounding out the field.
The meet continues Thursday with a full slate of swimming events, starting with the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle at 10 a.m.
Thursday's finals are slated to begin around 6 p.m.
Tickets for the meet are still available. Adult all-session tickets can be purchased for $25, while adult single-day tickets are $10. Students who present valid IDs can buy all-session tickets for $10 and single-day tickets for $5.
Tickets will be sold 90 minutes prior to the start of the meet with gates opening an hour before the meet.
