Swimming and Diving Ranked in National Poll

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team debuted at No. 12 Wednesday in CollegeSwimming.com's Division I Mid-Major poll.
The Cougars (5-7) earned 229.33 points to earn their standing in the poll, which is released four times a year. The last poll of the season will be released in early March.
UC Irvine stood atop the poll with 239.79 points, while Miami University was second. TCU, Richmond, East Carolina, Southwest Missouri State, Oakland, Navy, Eastern Michigan, Denver and Southern Illinois rounded out the Top 11 leaders.
The Mid-Major Poll features teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic 10, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Conference USA, EISL, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic, Mid-America, Mid-Continent, Midwest, Mid-eastern, Missouri Valley, Mountain West, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Sun Belt, Western Athletic and West Coast.
The Cougars return to action this weekend and look to improve on their dual meet record with a tour through south Louisiana. The trip begins at 4 p.m., Friday, when UH meets LSU and Rice in Baton Rouge, La. The Cougars then wrap up their stay in their eastern neighbor at noon, Saturday, against Sun Belt Conference member New Orleans in the Big Easy.
