Volleyball Hits The Road

HOUSTON - For the first time this season, the University of Houston volleyball team will head out on the road as the Cougars head off for a tournament at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Houston (1-3) comes into the tournament riding a three-game skid after facing some of the top teams in the country, most recently losing to Texas, a team knocking on the door of the top 25.
UT-Arlington boasts the best record of the teams in the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record to open the season, followed by the Trojans and Hoosiers who each bring a 3-1 record.
The Mavericks closed out their first weekend of play with a four-match sweep at the Western New York Invitational where they defeated Canisius, Buffalo, Niagara and Binghamton.
After playing four matches in two days, Indiana is fresh off a win against Jackson State, Louisiana Tech and Austin Peay but dropped their first of the year to Stephen F. Austin.
Indiana, who boasts two players with 50-plus kill totals in four games, is coming off a win against Oregon State after falling to Saint Louis. The Hoosiers have also defeated IUPUI and Murray State.
The tournament marks the first meeting between the Mavericks and Cougars while all-time against the opponents the Cougars carry a 2-1 record with a loss to Indiana and an unblemished record of 2-0 against Little Rock.
Action gets underway for the Cougars at UT-Arlington's Texas Hall at 11:00 a.m. against the Mavericks, 5:00 p.m. Friday night against Little Rock and closing out the tournament on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Indiana.
