We arrived in Athens after spending nine days in Patra, hours northwest of Athens where we had a pre-Olympic training camp. Greece is looking beautiful, and we got to see the country a little, which we normally don't get to see because of time constraints. Patra was hopping, as they are hosting some soccer prelims. Security is tight but nothing unusual for all the hype. We arrived in the village about 6:30 p.m. last night, and everything was pretty smooth. The accommodations are fantastic with apartment-like living. All countries are hosted there, and there seems to be a very good feel for the upcoming Games. The food so far is okay, but as like most Games, you usually have a hard time finding what you want. There is of course McDonalds to the rescue!!! The Russians look great and, of course, we are checking out everyone's outfitting to compare. We look smart and are very happy with what we received. We had our first practice this morning, and the pool is looking awesome -- cozy and friendly. Vera and Yulia's practice was good, and we will do synchro tonight in practice. Have not seen too many divers yet, but I am sure they are here. Vera and Yulia had their first NBC interview, which was great, and as the USA is not in the synchro event, they are all saying Russia is whom they are rooting for which makes us feel good. Our Houston families arrive tomorrow for the cheering section, and we are looking forward to seeing them all Saturday. The synchro starts at 9 p.m.,Saturday, Athens time -- don't miss it. Catch up with you later and cheer for us. Bye for now.
