FORT WORTH, Texas - The University of Houston swimming and diving team looks to continue its winning ways when it meets Conference USA rival TCU at 7 p.m., Friday in an NCAA dual meet at the Student Recreation Center in Forth Worth, Texas.
It will be the start of another busy weekend for the Cougars who travel to Denton, Texas, to meet North Texas and New Mexico State in a tri-meet at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Andy W. Sears Jr. Pool.
The Cougars (8-6) come into the meet after winning four of six dual meets over two days last weekend in Florida. UH swept Florida International twice and added single meet wins over North Florida, Cleveland State.
With that win total, the Cougars tied the 1999-00 team for the most dual meet victories in a single season.
In addition, UH enters Friday meet with a perfect 3-0 record against Conference USA opponents. The Cougars swept Louisville and added another win over Cincinnati during meets on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
In last weekend's trip to Florida, the Cougars used steady performances throughout the trip to push their season win total higher. Freshman Haley Menard was the only Cougar to record an individual swimming first-place finish, winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.77 against Miami and Florida International.
However, the Cougars' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Menard, Christina White, Stacey Williams and Kristin Bay capped that Miami meet with a first place showing at 1:41.43.
On the diving side, freshman Anna Kiess earned her first career first-place finish with 258.75 points on the 1-meter board in meets against FIU, North Florida, Cleveland State and Brown.
