Houston, Texas -
When the University of Houston plays nationally ranked Texas Saturday night, it will bring back some fond memories for Cougar head coach Dana Dimel.
"It sort of reminds me of some big games we had at Wyoming," Dimel said. "We played some very big conference games against ranked teams on national television while I was there."
Despite the comparisons, Dimel knows that Saturday night's game against the Longhorns will be very important.
"This is a big game for our program," Dimel said. "Texas will be playing on our campus for the first time in history. Anytime you play a Top 10 opponent at home, it's special. But, when you play a big game against an interstate rival, it adds to the meaning of the game."
John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium will be the third venue in which the two schools have played each other in the city of Houston. They first met at Rice Stadium in 1977 before playing in the Astrodome nine times.
Houston enters Saturday night's game with an all-time record of 6-3 since 1999 when John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium was renovated.
