Cougar Golf Team In Eighth Place At Central Regional

Stillwater, Okla. - The University of Houston men's golf team is in eighth place at the NCAA Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Okla. after the first round.
Freshman Brad McIntosh led the Cougars when he finished the first round with an even par score of 72. Simon Rodriguez shot a one-over 73 and senior All-American Andy Sanders and Scott Ferguson shot a two over 74 on the first day.
Kent State had the best team score at the Central Regional with a one-over par 289. Texas A&M and Charleston was two strokes back with 291, while Baylor is in a four-way tie for fourth with the host school, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Minnesota just four strokes back. Houston is five strokes back and the Cougars are tied with Oklahoma and Augusta State.
Andy Stewart of Kansas had the best individual round with a six-under par 66. John Mills of Kent State was second just one stroke back, while Mike Austin of Ohio State and John Klank of Texas was tied for third with -4.
McIntosh is tied with 10 other golfers for 15th place with his even par score. Simon Robinson is one over and tied for 25th, while Sanders and Ferguson are among a group of 24 players tied for 37th at two over par.
