Peter Mulamba joined the Houston Soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach in June 2025.
Mulamba comes to Houston following the 2024 season at SFA where he helped the Ladyjacks to a Southland Conference regular season and tournament title, a berth to the NCAA Tournament and the largest single-season turnaround in Division I with 14 wins.
Mulamba notably helped coach the Southland Conference’s Midfielder, Defender, Freshman and Student-Athlete of the Year as well as the Tournament MVP. Eight players earned All-Conference honors during his lone season in the Piney Woods. SFA’s regular season conference championship was its first since 2020, and its conference tournament title was the Ladyjacks first since 2012. The program’s 14 victories marked the most since 2014.
With Mulamba’s primary focus being on the offensive side of the ball, SFA ranked fourth nationally with 3.0 goals per game, scoring a total of 60 goals on the season. The Ladyjacks also ranked seventh nationally with 13 shutouts. Mulamba took on interim head coaching responsibilities in the spring of 2025 with the departure of Williams to Houston.
Mulamba joins Williams on staff at a third different school in three years as the pair also spent time together in 2023. As assistant coaches at UTSA, the pair led the Roadrunners to a 7-7-4 record in their first year in the American Athletic Conference, setting the program record for the fewest goals conceded (13).
Prior to joining the UTSA staff, Mulamba spent five years as the head coach at Alamo City Soccer Club of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). Leading Alamo City men's semi-professional team for seven split-calendar seasons, Mulamba racked up a 53-11-11 record as head coach – a 78 percent winning percentage. Alamo City was ranked No. 8 in the UPSL in 2023 and won their fifth Central Conference Texas South Division Championship under his leadership that Summer – marking their seventh playoff appearance and fourth trip to the national round of 32 – this had him voted as a top five finalist for UPSL Coach of the Year.
While coaching ACSC, he worked with several players who were promoted to full professional contracts, including Mikey Maldonado (North Carolina FC), Vincent Floria (Granada Club de Fútbol), Habib Balarabe (Alicante CF), John-Michael Villareal (Alicante CF), Ray Aguirre (Ljungskile SK), Kai Louviere (Brusque FC), Nicholas Blake (Maryland Bobcats FC), Randy Martinez (Empire Strykers) and Alec Rodriguez (FV 07 Diefflen). Continually working to develop new players since his playing days, Mulamba also spent time coaching with the Players Academy of Soccer Skills (P.A.S.S.) private soccer training since 2018, and his family has operated FalseNin9 Soccer Development out of Austin and San Antonio since 2020, providing technical training to players of all levels.
Mulamba started his career at Brescia University in Kentucky, where he was the team's Freshman and Newcomer of the Year before transferring to UTRGV. Unfortunately, an injury ended his collegiate career just five games into his time with the Vaqueros, prompting him to transfer to UTSA where he earned his degree in Kinesiology with an Athletic Medicine concentration.
Mulamba returned to action once more as a player before shifting his focus fully to coaching, playing semi-professionally for the San Antonio Runners Soccer Club. He helped the Runners to an 11-0-3 record, a Fall 2018 UPSL Central Conference Heart Division Championship and a Spring 2019 appearance in the 2019 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
His soccer playing journey began as a prep star at Laredo St. Augustine Catholic, where was a three-time TAPPS All-State honoree named to the TAPPS All-Tournament Team after leading his team to the first final four in school and city history during his senior year.
A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Mulamba comes from a soccer family, with his three brothers, Teddy, Greg and Oliver, all of whom competed and the NCAA Division I and II levels, as well as professionally and semi-professionally at the USL Championship, and PDL. In addition, another brother Patrick who played professional rugby in England, and South Africa.
