In that role, he will work closely with Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and the coaching staff on opponents’ scouting reports and game preparations and assist in other areas of the program.
“Nick is a grinder. He is very much a blue-collar guy, which fits well with our culture,” said Sampson, who begins his eighth season with the Cougars in 2021-22. “When you look at his background, you see has worked at so many different places in different roles. Bringing someone into our program with an NBA background keeps us current and on the cutting edge.
Reick, whose last name is pronounced Rike, came to Houston after serving as a video associate for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2020-21 season. There, he assisted the team video coordinator in scouting, practice and game edits, development of video playbooks and databasing video.
Most recently, he served as the video coordinator for the German National Team, which competed at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Bremen, Germany, native also previously worked for the Utah Jazz (2019-20), Salt Lake City Stars (2017-20), Dallas Wings (2016-18), Westchester Knicks (2016-17) and Chicago Bulls (2016). Reick entered the professional ranks as the Women’s Basketball assistant video coordinator at UCLA during the 2015-16 season.
