Men’s Golf Selected for NCAA Bermuda Run Regional

Cougars to compete as #11 seed at Bermuda Run Country Club on May 18-20 in sixth straight postseason berth
HOUSTON – For the sixth straight season and the 26th time in school history, the University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in NCAA Regional play.The Cougars will compete as the #11 seed at the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional, hosted by Wake Forest at Bermuda Run Country Club.
Houston will face #1 seed Virginia, #2 Mississippi, #3 Pepperdine, #4 Georgia Tech, #5 USC, #6 and host Wake Forest, #7 Mississippi State, #8 Little Rock, #9 NC State, #10 Kentucky, #12 Richmond, #13 Navy and #14 Presbyterian.
Emil Riegger (Maryland), Tyler Jones (Western Carolina), Harris Barth (Furman), Kelvin Hernandez (UNCG) and Dewi John (Charleston Southern) will compete as individuals at the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional.
This marked the 12th time in his 17-year career that Dismuke led the Cougars into the NCAA postseason.
The Top-Five teams from each NCAA Regional and the top individual not on a qualifying team advance to play at the NCAA Championships, set for May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
NCAA Regionals play will be held May 18-20 at six sites across the country. In addition to the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional, those venues include: University of Georgia Golf Course (Athens, Ga.; hosted by Georgia); Traditions Club (Bryan, Texas; hosted by Texas A&M); Scarlet Course – Ohio State Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio; hosted by Ohio State); Trysting Tree Golf Club (Corvallis, Ore., hosted by Oregon State) and The Gallery Golf Club (Marana, Ariz.; hosted by Arizona State).
Dismuke and the Cougars watched Wednesday's NCAA Selection Show from the clubhouse inside Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
ABOUT the HOUSTON COUGARS
This season, the Cougars have posted eight Top-Five team finishes with team championships at the season-opening Argent Financial Classic (September 7-9, 2025) and the Border Olympics (February 16-17).
Individually, senior Hudson Weibel has been the Cougars' leading performer with a 70.57 scoring average, 22 rounds of par or lower and 10 rounds in the 60s. The Dallas native won three individual tournament championships (Argent Financial Classic, Trinity Forest Invitational and Border Olympics), becoming the first Cougar to win 3+ tournaments in a season since the 2013-14 season.
Junior Grant Doggett stands second with a 71.82 scoring average and captured the individual title at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Club in Houston on Sept. 29-30. He was one of three Cougars to win individual crowns in 2025-26, joining Weibel and senior Bryant Hiskey II.
Junior Chi Chun Chen ranks third among the Cougar with a 71.85 average and is second on the team with 16 rounds of par or lower, including a career-low 64 in the Final Round of the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., on Sept. 9, 2025.
HOUSTON in NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY
Houston will compete in NCAA Regional play for the sixth consecutive season and the 26th time in school history.
A year ago, the Cougars finished seventh at the NCAA Urbana Regional at Atkins Golf Club in Urbana, Ill. Wolfgang Glawe fired 69s in each of the final two rounds to finish 17th and lead the Cougars.
During its history, the Cougars have earned eight Top-Five team finishes in NCAA Regional play and captured the 1998 NCAA Central Regional title at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
Four Cougars – Michael Perras, Blair Hamilton, Brett Callas and Dean Larsson – have earned medalist honors in NCAA Regional Play – while 14 Cougars have enjoyed Top-10 individual showings.
