Women’s Basketball Drops Wednesday Clash at #14/12 TCU

Cougars fall against Horned Frogs, 90-45
FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team fell 90-45 against #14/12 TCU on Wednesday evening inside Schollmaier Arena.
The Cougars (7-15, 1-10 Big 12) were led in scoring by junior guard Kierra Merchant with 12 points. This marked Merchant's ninth game this season and 22nd of her career, scoring in double-figures.
TCU (21-3, 9-2) had three in double figures. Olivia Miles led the Horned Frogs with 25 points and six assists. Marta Suarez recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds and Donovyn Hunter added 15 points.
Houston kept it close in the opening quarter, with three ties before TCU pulled away on a 6-2 run to take a 19-14 lead after one.
The Horned Frogs opened the second quarter with a 15-2 run to build a double-digit lead that the Cougars could not overcome, taking the first win in the home-and-home series.
Houston and TCU will meet again for the second matchup of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. inside Fertitta Center.
