Emanuel Sharp Recognized as Jerry West Award Midseason Top-10 Candidate

Award-winning senior ranks among Big 12 Conference’s top 3-point shooters
HOUSTON – University of Houston senior Emanuel Sharp was named a Jerry West Award Midseason Top-10 candidate by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.The award is presented annually by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation's top shooting guard.
This was the latest midseason honor for the Cougars from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. On Monday, freshman point guard Kingston Flemings was one of 10 midseason candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, presented to the nation's top point guard.
ABOUT EMANUEL SHARP
A four-year letterman with the Cougars, Sharp has compiled a 114-14 record during his career and is tied with forward Ja'Vier Francis (2021-25) for the fourth-most wins in school history.
With 1,472 career points, Sharp ranks 14th in Houston history with that total. With 267 career 3-pointers, he stands second in Houston history and needs only 10 more treys to move past Houston great Marcus Sasser and set a school record.
This season, Sharp has helped lead the Cougars to a 19-2 overall record and 7-1 mark in the Big 12 Conference. The Cougars have been ranked among the Top 10 in both national polls every week and have stood among the Top 25 in the Associated Press poll for 119 consecutive weeks, the nation's longest active streak.
Sharp ranks second among the Cougars with 16.3 points per game and ranks among the Big 12 Top-10 leaders with 2.6 3-point field goals per game and a .369 3-point field goal percentage.
The Tampa, Fla., native has posted seven 20-point games this season, including a season-high 27 points against Florida State during the Houston Hoops Showdown inside Toyota Center in Houston on December 6, 2025.

ABOUT the JERRY WEST AWARD
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in each of the remaining rounds starting Friday, at hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
In mid-March, the Midseason Top-10 list will be narrowed to five, and in late March, five finalists
will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will
be selected.
The Selection Committee for the Jerry West Award is composed of top men's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
The winner of the 2026 West Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the four other members of the Men's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy Award (Point Guard), Julius Erving Award (Small Forward), Karl Malone Award (Power Forward) and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Award (Center).
