PREVIEW: Cougars Set to Compete at Cajun AC Louisiana Clash

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team is set for its first road weekend of the season when it competes at the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash starting on Friday, Feb. 20 in Lake Charles, La.

The Cougars will face both McNeese and Missouri twice in two days (Feb. 20-21) while closing out the weekend with a single meeting against Louisiana (Feb. 22).

Houston will go on the road for the first time this season following an 8-1 start after consecutive weekends at home. The Cougars have now begun a season 8-1 for the second time in the last three years (2024).
The Cougars rank fifth nationally in home runs with 22 on the season, coming in fourth across the country in homers per game (2.44) while leading the Big 12 in home runs.
Houston have outscored opponents 64-30 through nine games this season, recording two shutout victories with two run-rule decisions via walk-off.
The Cougars collectively don a .681 Slugging Percentage (SLG), ranking 11^th nationally while leading all Big 12 programs.
Sophomore Maddie Hartley has had the hot bat to start the season, cracking six home runs to lead the team after two weekends of play.
Sophomore Ariel Redmond enters this weekend with five home runs on the year, hitting one in five of her last six games.
